Joliette
About the band
Originally from the city of Puebla but currently reside in Mexico City. They have a complex sound that is hard to fit within the boundaries of a genre. Blending influences that range from post-hardcore, math rock, and screamo to different styles of metal; they manage to deliver a sound that is equally captivating and energetic. The commitment of the four-piece is not only reflected on their compelling, sometimes proggy songwriting tendencies, but also on their work ethic, extensive touring, and an extraordinarily impassioned live show.
The sound of the band has been evolving along with them since their inception in 2010. Their 2011 debut EP, “Convertirse en Agua,” featured a young and earnest band that started gathering a small fanbase. They released a second EP the year later titled “Voltean/Estan Felices,” which helped them further develop their sound and start playing shows outside the city of Puebla. In 2013 they released their acclaimed debut LP, “Principia,” and established themselves as one of the most exciting new bands to come out of the Latin American scene. For their 2016 sophomore album, “Atáxico,” they took their sound to a new level and released their most aggressive, chaotic, and dissonant work to date. After a few years that saw them tour relentlessly around the world, they recorded their third and currently last LP titled “Luz Devora,” their most focused and mature release so far. With their stunning last 2 singles, “Contraluz” and “Segundero,” joliette prove that they are a band that’s never going to stop getting better with the years. They have developed their music into a style of their own, and that opens the possibilities for very electrifying releases in the future.
