Lupe Carroll
Lupe Carroll is a bluesy singer-songwriter who writes romantic tunes with a quartet of instrumentalists. He began as a solo artist performing in coffee shops and bars around the city. The project has since taken multiple forms: as a quartet and as a duo with his wife on Cello. Lupe Carroll has played shows at the Metro, Summer block parties around Chicago and venues in Bourbonnais.
On his musical upbringing Carroll writes, “My parents had a big play in the influences of mine. They have a love for really good music. My dad has always really enjoyed blues, soul and classic rock. He listened to stuff like Van Morrison, Otis Redding, CCR, Pink Floyd, The Allman Brothers, just to name a few. And then my mom is really into Motown and funk and a lot of that old soulful stuff. She shared a lot of The Temptations, Al Green, and Gladys Kight with me. I grew up in a home that always had music playing. Good music that just sunk into me.”
His debut full-length, “The Love We Found” was fully funded by a Kickstarter campaign in 2014. Watch Lupe Carroll perform tracks from that release and a previous EP here.
