Keeps

Keeps is a psych-tinged indie band who write unhurried, glimmering guitar music. Lead singer, Gusti Escalante’s voice is conversational and pleasantly worn-out. He sings like he’s been through a tough year and needs to exorcise the burden it’s laid upon him. The band echoes this sentiment with sunny, almost tropical guitar noodling and keyboard pads straight from the crackling, lo-fi speakers at a public pool. The rhythm section maintains a constant undercurrent that lets the twangy delay, super-saturated reverb, and noisily distorted parts to find a loose, but concrete shape.
